We made the deposit on our trip today! I purchased the airfare last night. Insurance is in place so if for any reason we have to cancel, we can. We are both excited about this trip. Is there a good time to go to these countries? We think it is NOW for us. I asked our agent Lisa at Ya'lla if she could give me some information to ease the mind of any family members who might be concerned about our travel plans. You can see her response below:
1.) Israel has the BEST security at airports I have EVER seen. When you leave, you literally need to be at the airport at LEAST 3 hours early as it does take that long to get through security.
2.) The news over hypes crime and tragedies. There is probably more crime and innocent deaths in any major city in the US than there is in the touristy areas of Israel and Egypt you are going to.
3.) There is no US Travel warning to Israel or Egypt. The only warning is to not go to Gaza Strip in Israel, which is a no brainer. You will not be in or near this area at all.
4.) In Egypt, in ALL tourist areas, which is all where you will be, there are tourist police EVERYWHERE. Egypt takes the safety of their tourist seriously, as tourism is VERY important, so they go above and beyond to be sure all tourist areas are safe and secure.
5.) In Egypt, may seem weird to an American, but all the hotels we use have metal detectors when you walk in. Again, another safety measure for tourists.
So with this in mind we joyfully make our plans to see these many places we have only had the opportunity to read about!
